Upload a Photo – Show your love by adding your favorite photo of the artist you’re voting for. This could be a concert photo, an iconic look, or a memorable moment. 3. Keep It Respectful – All uploaded images must be appropriate and respectful. Any photo containing nudity, hate speech, or offensive material will be removed immediately and may result in disqualification from voting.

Introduction

Black Music Month is the month of June. BMM Hall of Fame! Where you cast your vote for your favorite artists who have profoundly influenced the music industry across genres like soul, R&B, gospel, jazz, pop, and hip-hop. Legends such as Aretha Franklin, who has the honor of being called the "Queen of Soul," brought unmatched vocal power and emotional depth to every performance. From singing in the church, to singing in front of the president and the world. Her music also became one of many soundtracks for the civil rights movement and set records for future vocalists. Ray Charles, the pioneer of soul music, blended gospel with rhythm and blues, creating a sound that was already a part of the traditional African American home. These artists and many others have open doors for countless musicians of color that have and will come after them.

In recent years, performers like Beyoncé and Usher have stood on the foundation of those who came before them and their accomplishment and set a new bar. Beyoncé’s with 34 Grammys the most musical talents who currently hold the most Grammys by one person has become a cultural icon, with elaborate performances, and messages of empowerment. Usher, with his smooth voice and dynamic stage presence, has dominated R&B for over two decades, influencing artists worldwide. These singers, past and present, continue to redefine what it means to be a star while honoring the rich legacy of African American artistry and resilience in music.

  • Prince

    Prince was a legendary musician known not only for his powerful vocals and genre-defying sound, but also for his extraordinary talent as a multi-instrumentalist. Throughout his career, he played over 27 instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, piano, and synthesizers, often performing every part on his studio recordings. His skill with the electric guitar, in particular, earned him widespread recognition, delivering unforgettable solos that blended rock, funk, and soul. Prince’s ability to write, produce, and perform his music independently set him apart as a true musical genius, and his instrumental versatility played a major role in creating some of the most iconic albums of the 20th century, including Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign o' the Times.

    Alicia Keys is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and classically trained pianist whose musical talent has captivated audiences around the world. She began playing piano at just seven years old, mastering composers like Beethoven and Mozart before fusing her classical background with soul, R&B, and hip-hop. The piano is at the heart of her music, featured prominently in many of her biggest hits like “Fallin’” and “If I Ain’t Got You.” Her live performances often showcase her sitting behind the keys, effortlessly blending emotive vocals with rich, melodic piano lines.     Stevie Wonder is a musical prodigy and one of the most influential artists in American music history, known for his remarkable ability to play multiple instruments with incredible skill. Blind since shortly after birth, Wonder began playing piano, harmonica, and drums at a young age, astonishing audiences with his talent. Throughout his career, he often performed many of the instrumental parts on his recordings, including keyboards, synthesizers, bass, and percussion.
    His groundbreaking use of the synthesizer helped define the sound of R&B and pop in the 1970s, especially on albums like Talking Book and Songs in the Key of Life. Stevie Wonder’s instrumental mastery, combined with his soulful voice and visionary songwriting, has made him a true icon whose music continues to inspire generations.
